Sketch "Issues"

Yes, I have Sketch Issues and so does the whole Paper Issues Team!  Our latest issue is a sketch from Simple Scrapper.  Here's the sketch:

And here's my take on it...I kept everything pretty much as is with the sketch...it was perfect the way it was!!  I created this layout as a gift to my daughter's friend.  She's leaving for college next week and these pictures are of her and her boyfriend in Maine this summer.

I used Crate Paper's The Pier for most of my goodies.  I love the slide frames!  They're perfect for those Instagram pictures!

The cork heart is from Fancy Pants.

And the wood pieces are from Studio Calico.

I put the whole thing in a nice frame, all set for the new dorm room. ( Love you Brooke xoxo.)  Be sure to link up your take on the sketch here.  You could win some great prizes.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Back to the School Bus Challenge over at The Twinery

Hi Everyone...today I have a fun project for The Twinery's Back to the School Bus Challenge.  The "twist" on the challenge is to incorporate some of our yellow twine into your project.

For my project, I created this adorable "Chuck Taylor"-like sneaker using an SVG file from the Back to the Books SVG Kit over at svgcuts.com.  I filled it with some fun colored pencils tied with some Solid Marigold Twine of course!  This would be a really cute pencil holder for a child or a teacher!  I just placed a small jar inside the sneaker to hold everything.

The paper is from Doodlebug's Take Note collection.  I thought the symbols on the paper were perfect for a school project and the graph paper was just too cute!

I used some Solid Charcoal Twine to create the line along the "sole" of the sneaker and the shoe laces were created by finger crocheting some Solid Honeydew Twine.

I even added some Doodlebug Washi "aglets" to the end of my twine laces!

The Twinery's  Back to the School Bus Challenge is running until August 30th.  Link up your project and you could win this FABULOUS prize!!!

August Layout Workshop

Hi Everyone...just spent a really fun couple of days scrapping with some great ladies from Right at Home Scrapbooking.  I love getting together with these ladies...I wasn't very productive, but I did do a lot of laughing!

I have a fun layout to share today...it's our project for this month's Layout Workshop at Right at Home.  Take a peek:

This picture is from our recent trip to Florida.  The girls were very excited to find a penny candy store in St. Augustine.  I guess you're never too old....  The papers are Sweet Note by Allison Kreft for Webster's Pages.  They're bright and cheery and perfect for this pic!

I used my Silhouette to cut an envelope from some vellum.  I used it to hold a journaling tag.

The little banner is held together with some of the new Solid Honeydew Twine from The Twinery.  This month's Layout Workshop will be held Thursday, August 22nd at 7:00pm.  If you're local and would like to join us please call Right at Home to reserve your spot!  Thanks for stopping by today and I'll be back in a couple of days with my project for the latest challenge over at The Twinery!

The Twinery Inspired by Pinterest Challenge

Hi Everyone,
I'm here with my project for The Twinery's current challenge Inspired by Pinterest.  I have to admit, I can (and sometimes do...) spend hours on Pinterest.  I might start out looking for a particular recipe, next thing I know, I'm pinning craft projects, funny quotes...cats wearing strange outfits...you name it!  I do get some fabulous ideas (though my cats may not think so)!  People never cease to amaze me with their creativity!

The project I was most recently inspired by is this fabulous layout by Laura Vegas.  The original pin is here, and the original post can be found here.  I loved how she used the tone on tone papers and embellishments!  It really caught my eye.

I decided to used this technique on a birthday card I made for my friend Anita. The papers and stickers I used are from Doodlebug's Take Note Collection.

I used Solid Blossom, Solid Caribbean, Solid Honeydew and Solid Marigold to outline my HB2U letters.  The colors coordinated perfectly with my papers.  I also colored some wood pieces from Freckled Fawn and added some buttons from my stash to match the background colors.

Today is the last day to link up your Pinterest Inspired project to The Twinery's challenge.  For the rules, details and to link up, see our original post here.  You could win a sampler pack of our new Solid Twines!    You have until 11:59pm EST tonight to link up!  Thanks for stopping by!

Love U Most

I've been very neglectful of my blog lately!!!  Lots of running around this summer...and we just got back from 8 days in Florida...such a fun time, but wow was it hot!!!  I have a bunch of projects on my to-do list, but can't show them yet.  I did find this card that I had created for the American Crafts DT call.  I don't make a lot of cards, but I really liked how this one turned out!!

The papers are from American Crafts My Girl collection.  I love the soft hues.  The pie chart was created using a Lori Whitlock SVG file and my Silhouette.  I stitched all the pieces together with my machine to finish it off.

I'll be back later this week with the Layout Workshop Project for Right at Home Scrapbooking and also my project for The Twinery's Inspired by Pinterest Challenge.  Thanks for stopping by!

A Birthday Celebration

Hi Everyone... I had a fun time putting together this month's MFT & Friends Workshop project for Right at Home Scrapbooking.  I got to play with some papers from Bella Blvd, and some of the new birthday themed Die namics from MFT.

These pictures are from my daughter's 15th Birthday a couple of weeks ago.  We celebrated with Birthday pancakes and a dinner at PF Chang's!  I started out with some MFT InstaFrames as a base for my layout and had some fun with the new Birthday dies.

I used the new Party Balloon Dies to decorate one frame, and dressed it a bit more with some new solid twines from the Twinery.

The Jumbo Party hat is really fun...especially all of the confetti bits that come with it!

I finished up with the new Bitty Banner Dies and the new Big numbers.  I also used the Washi Tape dies to "adhere" my photo frames.  A few "splops" of Mr. Huey's and done!  This month's MFT & Friends Workshop will be held on Sunday, August 11th at 12:00 at Right at Home Scrapbooking.  If you're local and would like to join us, please call the store to reserve your spot!  Thanks for stopping by!
