Bella Blvd Challenges #3

Well, I'm on a roll... I've managed to get three of the five Bella Blvd. challenges done before the Friday due date! Of course, I haven't folded the laundry or made my bed ... Anyway, the challenge from last Wednesday was to use Bella Blvd. patterned papers as the main embellishment on your page. Here's my entry, a picture of my daughter after her latest gymnastics meet... she had a fantastic meet, placing in every event, and in the all-around. I used Bella Blvd. Making the Team collection.

I die cut stars using a an old Sizzix Sizzlet and my MFT Stars Die to add the row of stars beneath my picture.

I really have to say I'm enjoying these challenges. First, they make me think of different ways to use my supplies, and second, I don't have enough time to obsess over every detail, so I'm much more productive. I think I'm going to try for all five... we'll see. I think my family might like some clean clothes, and maybe some dinner....

Bella Challenge Day 2

I've decided to try as many of the Bella Blvd. challenges I can do this week... this is the challenge from Tuesday. The task was to use patterned papers from at least four different Bella Blvd. lines in one layout. Since I own about a million Bella Blvd. lines, I figured I had to take this one on! Here's my attempt...
I used papers from the Sophisticates, Winter Wonder, Spring Flings and Easter Things, Tail Waggers and Cat Naps, and Christmas Wishes lines. I LOVE that Bella uses the same color families across their collections! The picture is of my difficult to love kitty Daisy... I love her, but she has her moments!
And of course, I had to add a Whimsy Button and some Twinery Twine!
My goal is to finish at least 3 of the 5 Bella Blvd. challenges... we'll see what I can do. I will say that it has been very fun to do a layout for the sake of doing a layout! The other good thing is that I don't have time to obsess over every little detail, so I actually get things done quickly! Hopefully I'll be back with another challenge in a couple of days!

Some Lily Bee & MFT Goodness

I got to do a very fun project for the DT over at Right at Home Scrapbooking this week. I was asked to do a home decor project featuring some Lily Bee Designs and My Favorite Things Die namics. I opted to do a photo tray, something I've never done before, and I'm so happy with how it came out!

The pictures are from a trip to Chatham a few (ok quite a few) years ago. My daughter LOVED playing in the waves and sand! I created a beach scene using the MFT Cloud, Sun, Wave and Woodgrain Fence Die namics.

The clouds, sun and roses are Canvas Corp. canvas that I colored with Glimmer Mist and cut.

Don't the rosettes look like shells??

And a banner to top it all off with some Charcoal Twine from the Twinery. I'm so happy with the results of this project! Can't wait to hang it in our new room!

Just for Fun

It's school vacation week around here so I took my daughter to Right at Home Scrapbooking for one of their Wednesday morning coffee crops. While she worked on a mini book of our trip to the Keys last spring, I opted to do a "for fun" layout. I decided to try some of the challenges over at Bella Blvd. They have a week of challenges going on, and this one was from Monday. The challenge was to use some of their Cute Cuts on a page. Here's my LO.. a picture of my daughter skating last year. I used Bella's Winter Wonder Line. The layout is loosely based on this PageMaps sketch.

I used the ice skates from the Cute Cuts page, and embellished them with a couple of Twinery Twine pom-poms.

It was tons of fun to take on the challenge, I think I might try a couple more this week. The other challenges are: To use patterned paper from at least 4 Bella Blvd. lines in a project, to use patterned paper as an embellishment and today's is to use their border strip paper. I probably don't have time to do them all, but I'm definitely going to try at least one more. The prize (random drawing) is $100 of Bella Blvd. goodies... I could absolutely use those!

I'll be back soon with my latest project for Right at Home!

Let's Capture These Sketches Reveal Sketch 120

It was a very busy blog week last week, and I never got to post my reveal of Sketch 120 from Let's Capture These Sketches. Here's the wonderful Sketch created by J.J. Sobey.
And here's my take on the sketch. These pictures are from last winter when my daughter and friends went ice skating at Frog Pond in Boston. They had such a good time. I used Fancy Pants Winterland papers. I love the soft colors.

I cut the skates and the larger snowflakes using the Cricut Winter Woodlands cartridge and the smaller ones were cut using MFT's snowflake Die namics. And of course the skate laces are made from Shore Twine from The Twinery. Make sure to stop by the Let's Capture Sketch Blog to see more layouts from the other ladies on the Design Team!

The Twinery and CPS Challenge

Hi Everyone,
This week The Twinery is sponsoring the sketch challenge over at Card Positioning Systems. Here's Sketch 253 that was created for this challenge.
And here's my take on the sketch.
I used Bella Blvd.'s Spring Flings and Easter Things papers and stickers... LOVE the colors. The Rainbow was cut with the MFT Rainbow Die namic and then I wrapped the twine around each of the arcs. The clouds and sun are also MFT Die namics.

If you 'd like to take the challenge and possibly win a sampler pack of Twinery Twine, you can hop over to CPS to find out the details and also make sure to stop by The Twinery to see what our designers have created for this challenge!

The Twinery and The Play Date Cafe & a Celebration

Boy, it's been a busy week of posts! I think it might be some kind of record for me! Anyway, Today I'm writing because The Twinery is sponsoring this week's Color Challenge with the Play Date Cafe. The challenge is a "color splash" challenge, which means you use black and white with a splash of color. We used some Pink Sorbet Twine as our color splash. Here's the inspiration:
And here's my take, a layout featuring some fabulous Doodlebug Design Classic Collection, and of course, Twinery Pink Sorbet Twine.
I created a twine heart by adding some adhesive to a die cut heart, then winding the twine around.
LOVE Banners and created this one with MFT's Fishtail Banner.

Topped it all off with a Whimsy Button! If you'd like to participate in the challenge, you could win a prize pack of twine from The Twinery. The rules and deadlines can be seen here.

And now for the Celebration....The Twinery has reached over 10,000 fans on Facebook so we're having a party! Not only can you get a discount but you can win one of six FAB prizes. Just a note to have you go over to the Bella Blvd. Blog today to download the February issue of The Bella Buzz, their e-newsletter. It's full of lots of fun ideas... and I'm lucky enough to get to be a part of this month's issue!

Hi Everyone,
I'm back with a layout I created for Right at Home Scrapbooking. The assignment was to take a 8.5 x 11 PageMaps sketch (seen here) and stretch it to a 12 x 12. Here's my take using Pebbles, Inc. With Love collection.
I LOVE this picture of Caroline. I bought her a tiara as a joke at Christmas and she obviously loved it! The quote comes from a pencil we found while shopping one day... it's become a standard around here!
The theme for this month at RAH is flowers, so I created these rosettes using MFT's 1/4" Rosette Die namic. The crown border is also a Die namic I topped off with some bling.
I'll be back later this morning with some fun news (can't announce until 8:00am EST!)

Hi Everyone... back from a very scrappy weekend with the ladies from Right at Home. I had lots of fun and laughs and even managed to get a few layouts done between the chatting sessions...including this one that I created for the Layout Workshop class this Friday.
We'll be using Echo Park's Little Girl Collection... LOVE the bright colors! We'll also be using plenty of MFT Die namics... and a little Twinery Twine!

If you'd like to join our monthly club, make sure to give the ladies at Right at Home a call to reserve your spot! I'll be back later this week with some layouts I've created for Let's Capture these Sketches and the Twinery!

Sketch #118 Reveal

Hi Everyone,
I'm back with the reveal of sketch 118 from Let's Capture These Sketches. We got to work with an awesome sketch by JJ Sobey... take a peek.

And here's my take on JJ's sketch. I used some Bella Blvd. Finally Fall to showcase some great apple picking pictures from October.

LOVE the word stickers that come with this collection, they're perfect to sprinkle around your layout, and the big brown Whimsy button matched the colors perfectly.
I wanted to include an apple tree so I combined the branch Die namic from MFT with an apple I created using some Twinery twine.
Make sure to take a look at the fabulous layouts the rest of the team created here.

Whoo Loves You

OK, a bit "punny", but I couldn't resist. I was asked by Lisa over at Right at Home Scrapbooking to create a Valentine's themed treat bag for one of my DT projects this month. I knew I wanted to do something with owls... so I searched Pinterest (love it, but huge time black hole) for owls and found my inspiration for this:

Isn't he cute??? And of course I had to take his picture in a tree... This was really an easy project to create. I started with a pillow box that I cut using an SVG file from Lettering Delights. The body feathers are just punched circles, as are the eyes. The feet and beak are punched hearts and the wings are oval shapes. All the papers are from the Pebbles With Love line... I just love the colors!
For the tag, I used my Cricut to cut out the words on a tag shape, then layered it onto another slightly larger tag. And of course, a little Twinery Maraschino twine to complete the look!

The best part... when you open up the pillow box, it's full of CHOCOLATE! That's it for now, I'll be back Friday with my latest from Let's Capture These Sketches!
