MFT and Friends Layout for April

I feel like I haven't created a layout in weeks!  I had a blast and was relatively productive at the Crop on the Cape a couple of weeks ago, but since then, I've been literally knee deep in paper and embellies, cleaning and purging to make way for the new craft room furniture.  Finally, I have it to a point where I can actually use my new table!!!  I'll post more pics as things come along...still waiting for some shelves, the sofa and curtains!

The first layout created in the new Scrap Room (no longer the Toy Room, although that's debatable...) is April's MFT & Friends Workshop Layout for Right at Home Scrapbooking.

I got to play with Echo Park's Love Story...which is so much more than a "Valentine's" collection.  The pictures are from my nephew's confirmation last year.  The girls were all good with having their picture taken, my nephew needed a little more encouragement....

I used the new LLD Pocket and Notebook Dienamics along with the Tag Stax and Circle Stax.  And of course some Sorbet and Charcoal Twinery Twine!

I even stamped!  (I know, a miracle....) I used the MFT Journal-it Library Card and Right this Way stamp sets.  They're both perfect additions to layouts.

That's all for today...thanks for stopping by!

Banner Day Challenge at The Twinery!

Hi Everyone,
I'm here today with a layout for the Banner Day Challenge over at The Twinery!

I have a soft spot for banners.  I love adding them to my layouts and cards, big ones, small ones, mixed banners...just can't get enough of them!  And nothing completes the look of a banner better than a draping of Twinery Twine!  I thought a banner would be the perfect addition to my layout featuring my daughter's winning gymnastics team!  The girls have place first at every meet this season. I used the new My Girl Collection from American Crafts.  The colors were perfect!

I created my banner using MFT's Flag Stax Die namics, but this is an easy style of banner to create without a die as well... just strips of paper with a notch cut in the bottom, completed with the new Rainbow Teal Shimmer Twine!  I think that this is my all time favorite Twinery Twine!

I dipped into my Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm Flair to use this Awesome button, thought it was perfect!

I also added some silver elements to coordinate with the shimmer in the Rainbow Teal Shimmer twine.

If you would like to play along with the  Banner Challenge this month,  you can link up your Banner project here by 11:59pm on March 28th.  One lucky person will win these fabulous prizes!

Four bottles of Heidi Swapp Color Shine and.....

Two spools of Twinery Twine!

I hope you decide to play along and I can't wait to see your banner creations!

Book Buddies

I think it's so cute that our kitty Rosie must be where ever my daughter is.  When she comes home from school, Rosie runs down to her bedroom to do "homework" with her.  (This usually consists of kitty head butts and tummy scratches.)  She even likes to lie on the desk when my daughter is using her laptop.  It's too funny.

These pictures of the two of them are typical...My daughter curled up with her Nook and Rosie right there with her. (yes, she is extra fluffy....and looks like a blanket!)

I based my layout on a sketch from Kristine Davidson's new book Creating With Sketches Volume 2. (page 44).  If you haven't ordered yours yet, you should!  It's really an awesome book.  I pretty much followed the sketch.  I used Crate Paper's Fourteen collection.  This has been one of my favorites this year.  I started by "splopping" some Mister Huey's on my background page.  I love how opaque the colors are!

I cut some arrow shapes from my background paper and backed them with another coordinating paper.  I love this technique...it really adds dimension to a project.

The banner was created by fussy-cutting some banner shapes from one of the papers, and stitching a zig-zag stitch along the top.  The chipboard shapes are also from the Fourteen collection.  That's it for today...I'll be back with more projects soon including one for The Twinery's Banner Day Challenge.  Thanks for looking!

Scrapbook and Cards Today Spring Issue!

I'm so excited to be part of the spring issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today!

I created a layout based on a sketch by Becky Fleck and the twist was to have some creative journaling.  Here's my layout...

I used October Afternoon's Midway collection...such a fun line!  Lots of great embellies like the chipboard camera and Polaroid frame.  The pie charts were cut using my Silhouette.

I covered the chipboard pieces with some of the papers from Midway.

And here's my hidden journaling...if you pull the ribbon (stamped with a stamp from Evalicious) the journaling tag pops out of the camera!

It was a fun layout to create!  Make sure to get your copy of the spring issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today here.  You can download a copy for free!  It's full of great inspiration!  Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Pancakes

Just a quick post to share a layout I did recently.  It's my daughter on  her birthday enjoying the annual Birthday pancakes.

I used some Bella Blvd. Birthday Girl papers, stickers and embellies.  I love the bright and cheery colors. They really make the black and white photo pop!  I also had some fun with Bella's Decorative Tapes.  The stamp shape was cut from a Lori Whitlock SVG file.

As I said, just a quick post, but I'll be back Friday with a layout I created while I was at the Crop on the Cape...such a fun time!  Thanks for stopping by!

March Layout Workshop at Right at Home Scrapbooking

I had a lot of fun creating this month's project for the Layout Workshop at Right at Home Scrapbooking.  First I got to play with one of my FAVORITE Collections...Portfolio by Pink Paislee.  Second, I got to play with my Silhouette...ALWAYS a good time!  Here's what I came up with:

I created my own Silhouette cut file by welding the days of the week together...I was surprised at how easy it was to create custom cuts!

For my title, I mixed it up a little, using a fun chevron arrow and the Everyday cut files, both available in the Silhouette store.

Finally I put together a little hidden journaling pocket and topped it off with a fun tab.  I also stamped it with my new Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm roller stamp (I'm really begin to hoard the different roller stamps that are out these days...it's a problem)

This month's Layout Workshop will be held on Friday, March 22nd at 7:00pm at Right at Home Scrapbooking.  If you're local and would like to come please call the store to reserve your spot!

Chevrons and Green at The Twinery!

Hi Everyone, today I have a fun layout for the Twinery's Green and Chevron Challenge!

As soon as I saw the challenge, I knew I was going to use this silly "selfy" picture of my daughter and me.   It's amazing how she doesn't mind taking pictures like this, but if I pull out my Canon, forget it!

I decided to go with a monochromatic look.  Bella Blvd had a lot of green/white papers with chevrons, perfect for the challenge! I created dimension by cutting out shamrock shapes from my background paper and backing them with a coordinating paper. To make them pop a bit more, I outlined them with some Honeydew Twine from The Twinery.

I cut additional shamrocks from another coordinating paper, folding them to give them some shape and added them to the layout.  I like how everything pops off the page!

To make my picture stand out on the patterned background, I spread some white paint as a backdrop and added some painted lines using a tutorial I found on Evalicious' blog.  And of course, I had to use my green chevron camera flair pin from Evalicious!

A little more Honeydew Twine around my picture and some green washi tape complete the look!

This is the latest Twinery Challenge and if you play along with us, you could win this fabulous prize package! Two spools of our Twine AND a $25 gift card to Michaels! For all of the details, and to link up, see the original challenge post here.

Make sure to stop by The Twinery's blog to see all of the inspiration from the design team.  Thanks for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments!

MFT & Friends Peek

Just a quick post to give you a peek at the layout I created for this month's MFT & Friends Workshop at Right at Home Scrapbooking.  We'll be playing with some Lily Bee Persnickety...love the colors and patterns!  Take a peek:

This photo makes me laugh every time I see it!  It's from New Year's Eve and my daughter and her friend were joking around about who they were going to kiss at midnight.  Just so silly!  I used MFT's new Hexagon Stax Die namics as my back drop.  They coordinate perfectly with the colors and patterns of Persnickety!  The little banner pieces and "chevrons" at the top were also cut using MFT Die namics.  The title was cut using my Silhouette.

A few splats of Mister Huey's and a piece of Denim Twinery twine finish off the playful look.  That's all for today!  Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate it!

Creating with Sketches Vol. 2 is Here!

I'm so excited to announce that Kristine Davidson's Creating With Sketches, 2 is available starting today in e-book form!  The book has 60 pages, 55 designers and 125 sketches...chock full of inspiration!

I jumped at the opportunity to be part of this book... and came up with this layout which is on page 22 (not that I was checking or anything...)

This is one of my all-time favorite photos of my daughter and her cousins.  They're such a fun bunch and they get along so well!  It's rare that everyone can get together at the same time, with work and school schedules, so this photo is a special one!

I used Little Yellow Bicycle's Just Because Collection...I'm in love with the colors, such a great mix of greys, blues, reds, violets...and the coordinating stickers and chipboard pieces are awesome!

The doilies are also from LYB...I've had them in my stash for ages!  I also did some random stitching throughout the layout.

And of course, there was the title I cut using my Silhouette and Simply Glamorous Font.  I still can't believe how well the Silhouette cuts!

Now for something special for my blog readers!  Kristine has generously given us a promo code to give to friends!  Go to the Creative Scrappers Store  to order your e-book, and enter in code:  CWS2Discount  and you will receive $2.00 off of the cost of the book!  Tell Kristine that Kathy sent you!

Creative Scrappers - Sketch 250!

Sort of happy and sort of sad to be here today...posting sketch #250 for Creative Scrappers!  This will be the last sketch for a little while, so that the fabulous Kristine Davidson can take a much deserved break!!!  She's taking a little vacation after 5 years of providing us with unlimited inspiration!  But don't fear...Creative Scrappers isn't going away...in fact, in case you haven't heard, there's a new sketch book coming out this month, Creating With Sketches Volume 2!!  I'm happy to say I'll be a part of it!  The last sketch book went like wildfire, so be sure to pre-order your copy today!  You can do that here.

Ok, enough moping on my part...Sketch 250 was a fabulous one... brought to us by Kristine.  Take a peek:

And here's my take on her sketch using Authentique's gorgeous Renew Collection:

This picture was taken in Key West a couple of years ago.  We were at the southernmost point in the Continental United States....only 90 miles to Cuba!  My husband is thrilled with me, as you can see from his expression...I made him walk a bit in the heat, then stand in line to get the picture...we do what we have to do for the shot, right??  Such a great trip, can't wait to go back!  I did change up the sketch a little....first I rotated the sketch left to accomodate my portrait oriented picture.  I also strayed from the "square" design a little,,, but kept with the "color blocking" affect.

I played with my Silhouette again...I really do love that machine....cutting the clouds and sun, and also cut some fun words from one of the blocks...and kept the negative space for my design.

Authentique's Renew collection comes with some great stickers and embellies....and I made sure to use the for my LO!  Well that's all for today...don't forget to order your Creating With Sketches Volume 2...you'll be so glad you did!  I'd also like to wish Kristine a wonderful and relaxing break...you've done such a FABULOUS job with the Creative Scrappers Blog and I'm so happy to be part of it now and hopefully in the future!!  Love to all my co-designers...I'm constantly inspired by all of you and look forward to working with you on other endeavors!!!
