The Greatest View

Hi Everyone...
There's a fun challenge going on over at Jot Magazine...The Greatest View... they want folks to link up layouts with their "Greatest View"...which can be anything from scrapping a photo of a wonderful view somewhere,  a layout celebrating an event and your view of it, or even an everyday moment that is a great view.  I had the absolute perfect layout for this!!!  Check it out:

This is one of my all time favorite photos...it's a quick cell phone shot of the sunset in Key West.  We were on the roof of the La Concha hotel on Duval Street.  It's the tallest building in Old Key West and offers the most breathtaking views of the sunset!  Even better, there's a fun bar right there!  Everyone rides up to the roof, grabs a drink and finds a good spot to watch the sun go down!

I used Bella Blvd.'s Sand and Surf collection...perfect for my pic.  I tried to create a little "scene" using the palm tree and waves chipboard pieces.

I kept it simple to focus on the picture...just a few splats of Mr. Huey's to add some pizzazz.  That's it for today...thanks for stopping by!

Made for Each Other

Well, I had planned on having this ready Thursday for our ACTUAL Anniversary...but you know how it goes.... My husband and I just celebrated our 21st Anniversary...which means I now have to stop saying I'm 29 because that means I got married at 8 years old....a bit unbelievable...anyway... I snapped this picture one morning last week...thought it was funny, and decided to scrap it!  The back of the "Real Men" mug is funny too...it says "Some men are born to cats, others have cats thrust upon them."

I love the new Day to Day collection from Doodlebug Designs.  It is just too cute!  I'm especially in love with the adorable little coffee cup DoodlePops and the little "Potty People"!!!

There's a little of everything on this layout...some spritzing, some stitching, some stamping.  It was nice to do a layout just for fun!

That's it for today...I hope to have another layout up this week!  Thanks for stopping by.

A Birthday Celebration

Hi Everyone... I had a fun time putting together this month's MFT & Friends Workshop project for Right at Home Scrapbooking.  I got to play with some papers from Bella Blvd, and some of the new birthday themed Die namics from MFT.

These pictures are from my daughter's 15th Birthday a couple of weeks ago.  We celebrated with Birthday pancakes and a dinner at PF Chang's!  I started out with some MFT InstaFrames as a base for my layout and had some fun with the new Birthday dies.

I used the new Party Balloon Dies to decorate one frame, and dressed it a bit more with some new solid twines from the Twinery.

The Jumbo Party hat is really fun...especially all of the confetti bits that come with it!

I finished up with the new Bitty Banner Dies and the new Big numbers.  I also used the Washi Tape dies to "adhere" my photo frames.  A few "splops" of Mr. Huey's and done!  This month's MFT & Friends Workshop will be held on Sunday, August 11th at 12:00 at Right at Home Scrapbooking.  If you're local and would like to join us, please call the store to reserve your spot!  Thanks for stopping by!

Just Fabulous

Hi Everyone... I have a fun layout today inspired by the Mood Board Challenge over at Jot Magazine.  If you're not familiar with Jot, it's a brand new digital magazine for scrappers with a big emphasis on how we collect and record memories today...Instagram, Project Life and the like.  It's really fun and fresh and best of all interactive...they have tons of challenges and "mood boards"  like this one:
Here's my entry for the challenge...it's my silly kitty Rosie being...well Fabulous.   The paper is from my take home kit from the Layout Workshop at Right at Home Scrapbooking.  It is from Echo Park's Here and Now collection -  I love the bold and bright colors!  I tried to stick to mostly the yellow and pink color scheme but also used small splashes of green and blue like in the bottom left picture.

The feathers are from Bella Blvd.  They were also part of our take home kit.  I've been resistant to the whole feather trend, but I've finally caved.  They were perfect for this layout.  The flower was cut using a Lori Whitlock Silhouette file.

The wood confetti is from Freckled Fawn.  I colored the pieces using my neon Mr. Huey mists and added some Stickles for sparkle.  The adorable Heart flair is from the Paper Issues Special Edition Flair at PandaEightDesigns.

It was a fun layout to put together!  That's it for today...getting ready to head off to Vegas and my FIRST CHA!!! (no not excited at all....) I'll be sure to take some pictures and post!!  Thanks for stopping by~

Summer Memories

We just spent a great long weekend down at my parent's house in Chatham.  We celebrated the 4th with friends, went to the beach and topped it all off with a boat ride to watch some fireworks from Marion Harbor.  It really was a great weekend.  While we were on the beach, I was watching a dad with his little one playing in the waves.  It was just too cute.  It reminded me of this layout I had featured in the summer issue of PaperHaus Magazine

These pictures are from back in 2000.  My husband had my daughter jumping over the waves as they came in.  It was so cute how she was brave one minute, then not so much the next!

I used Studio Calico's Sundrifter collection along with some Mister Huey Mists for this layout.  I love the soft colors!

The clouds and sun were cut using an Amy Tangerine stitching template as a guide.  I then stitched them to make them pop a bit more.

The shell, sand dollar and star fish were all cut using my Silhouette.  Such a fun memory.  Well, back to reality...laundry, groceries...you know the drill.  I'll be back on Tuesday for the Twinery/Ruby Rock-It blog hop. Be sure to check it out, there just might be a prize involved!!  Thanks for stopping by.

MFT & Friends - May

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!!!  I'll be spending the day with some fun ladies cropping the day away...or at least a little during all the chatting.  I wanted to share the layout I created for this month's MFT & Friends Workshop at Right at Home Scrapbooking.  I got to play with the fun Darling Dear from Studio Calico and tons of MFT Die namics!

I recently got a huge craft desk for my craft room...5'square!  My daughter and her friend decided it was also the modern day equivalent of the couch cushion and blanket fort.  They hung out under the desk for hours.

I was excited to use the new Reel Life Die namic.. it's just so cute and trendy!!  I also used the Story Starters Die namic and the Right this way stamp set.

The Cute Cameras Die namics are my FAVORITE...just so cute!  That's it for today...thanks so much for stopping by and I hope that you're doing something creative today!

One Fine Day & Some Happy News

Hi Everyone...just a quick post to show you a layout I created using my take-home kit from the Layout Workshop at Right at Home Scrapbooking.  I got to play with some Crate Paper Acorn Avenue.  Here's what I came up with:

I just love these pictures from back in 2005.  The one on the left was our Christmas card pic that year.  We got a Mr. Huey's Mint Julep mist in our kit, and I used in a few ways...first I splattered some on my background.  I also used it to color some Studio Calico wood veneer arrows and also to color my LYB burlap letters in my title.

The  little clips from Studio Calico are a favorite and used one of my birdies to hold my picture perfect label.  That stamp sentiment is from Lawn Fawn.  I found these Prima flowers when I was purging the craft room.  I have NO idea when I got them, but I thought the colors were perfect for my layout.

That's it for today... Now for my happy news.  I'm excited to finally be able to announce that I'll be part of the Paper Issues Design Team!!!

Such a fun group of ladies, and there are a lot of fun Issues planned!  If you're not familiar with Paper Issues, be sure to stop by the blog to check things out!  I'll be back on Friday as part of the Blog hop with The Twinery and Imaginisce!  Thanks for stopping by!

April Showers and Stripes Challenge at The Twinery

Hi Everyone, I'm back today with my take on The Twinery's newest Challenge, April Showers & Stripes

As soon as the challenge was announced, I knew what picture I'd be using!  On Easter weekend we were in Chatham, MA to visit my parents.  Chatham is also home to one of my daugher's all-time favorite stores...Jack Wills.  (she has this obsession with all things British)  Of course we had to visit (and purchase...)  And what trip to Jack Wills would be complete without the photo with the custom Landrover in Pink and Navy Stripes?  The title "Fabulously British" is the company's trademark.

The background was painted using a Crafter's Workshop stencil and a Ranger paint dauber.  To go along with The Twinery's Stripes theme, I wrapped some of the new Blossom Iridescent around some navy paper squares.  The paper is from the Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm Collection.

For the stitched title and heart, I dyed some of the Twinery's Natural Twine using some Mr. Huey's in Passport.  I put a quick tutorial on how to do this on my post over on The Twinery's Blog.   I also used the Passport spray to dye the wood veneer speach bubble.   The "Fabulously" was cut using my Silhouette.

The stickers, rub-ons and flair are from the Lucky Charm collection.

I created a little hidden journalling pocket using one of the stickers from the collection and some washi.

That's all for today...thanks for stopping by and make sure that you stop by The Twinery's Blog and link up your April Showers & Stripes creation here!  You could win this fabulous prize package:

I can't wait to see what you create!

Book Buddies

I think it's so cute that our kitty Rosie must be where ever my daughter is.  When she comes home from school, Rosie runs down to her bedroom to do "homework" with her.  (This usually consists of kitty head butts and tummy scratches.)  She even likes to lie on the desk when my daughter is using her laptop.  It's too funny.

These pictures of the two of them are typical...My daughter curled up with her Nook and Rosie right there with her. (yes, she is extra fluffy....and looks like a blanket!)

I based my layout on a sketch from Kristine Davidson's new book Creating With Sketches Volume 2. (page 44).  If you haven't ordered yours yet, you should!  It's really an awesome book.  I pretty much followed the sketch.  I used Crate Paper's Fourteen collection.  This has been one of my favorites this year.  I started by "splopping" some Mister Huey's on my background page.  I love how opaque the colors are!

I cut some arrow shapes from my background paper and backed them with another coordinating paper.  I love this technique...it really adds dimension to a project.

The banner was created by fussy-cutting some banner shapes from one of the papers, and stitching a zig-zag stitch along the top.  The chipboard shapes are also from the Fourteen collection.  That's it for today...I'll be back with more projects soon including one for The Twinery's Banner Day Challenge.  Thanks for looking!

MFT & Friends Peek

Just a quick post to give you a peek at the layout I created for this month's MFT & Friends Workshop at Right at Home Scrapbooking.  We'll be playing with some Lily Bee Persnickety...love the colors and patterns!  Take a peek:

This photo makes me laugh every time I see it!  It's from New Year's Eve and my daughter and her friend were joking around about who they were going to kiss at midnight.  Just so silly!  I used MFT's new Hexagon Stax Die namics as my back drop.  They coordinate perfectly with the colors and patterns of Persnickety!  The little banner pieces and "chevrons" at the top were also cut using MFT Die namics.  The title was cut using my Silhouette.

A few splats of Mister Huey's and a piece of Denim Twinery twine finish off the playful look.  That's all for today!  Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate it!

CS Sketch 241

It's not my normal week to post for Creative Scrappers, but Kristine's Sketch #241 was a special sketch...it looks just like the new Creative Scrappers Logo, so she asked us all to participate in this week's reveal.  Take a peek at the sketch...it's such a fun one!

And here's my version...I used some Lily Bee Persnickety Papers...I LOVE the patterns and colors..they're so much fun. I also used some Mr. Huey's sprays to spatter the background.  I thought they went perfectly with this silly photo of my daughter listening to the new One Direction Release...she spent the entire day with at least one ear bud in...

I used another one of my Evalicious badges...I can't get enough of them!  I also used some MFT Die namics for the sun, stars and circles.

I created a hidden journaling pocket to hold one of the Index Journaling cards from the Persnickety Collection.

Make sure to stop by the Creative Scrapper's Blog to check out the wonderful creations by the DT.  Well, that's it for today...and this will be my last post of 2012.  I hope you all have a safe and Happy New Year!
