Doodlebug Design | Candy Cane Lane Advent Calendar Train

Every year I love making a new Advent Calendar with Doodlebug's Christmas Collection.  This year I worked with Lori Whitlock to come up with this fun train SVG... and I'm so happy with how it turned out using the Candy Cane Lane Collection!  Take a peek...

I started with this SVG file from Lori Whitlock.  I made the base of the train with white cardstock.  I then started decorating with the papers and embellishments from Candy Cane Lane.

I made Santa the conductor, of course!  I used the Sweet Santa Stand Alone Doodle Cuts to make him.  I also decorated the sides of the conductor's box with cute presents from the Odds & Ends.

I covered each of the 24 boxes with papers from the 6x6 pad.  I used the new Alphabet Soup Puffy Stickers to number my boxes.  The wheels also have some sprinkles in their centers.  To embellish a bit more, I added more Odds & Ends to some of the boxes.  The boxes are a good size I could fit 3 candies in each.

The other side of the train was decorated in the same manner.  I have a fun trick I used to make my Santa show the same from both sides of the train... I cut one Santa and all his pieces from  my papers.  Then, I turned those papers over and cut a second set of pieces.  This gives you a mirror image of your first set to glue back to back so you can have him look the same on both sides!

The front of my train was decorated with a star from the icon stickers sheet and I made some snowflake "smoke puffs" using the snowflake dies in the Snow Cute Stand Alone Doodle Cuts.

Luckily I didn't eat all the candy before it was time to fill the boxes!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Doodlebug Design | Petite Prints Leprechaun Hats

With St. Patrick's Day right around the corner, I was curious... what do you call a group of leprechauns?  Is it a pack, like wolves?  Or maybe a murder, like crows?  I did finally google this question and though there is no official name, one person suggested that they be called a "Luck" of leprechauns, which I thought was perfect!

I'm attending an in-person crop which starts on St. Patrick's Day, and wanted to make a little something special for my friends.  I came up with these cute little Leprechaun hat treat holders.  I got the original idea from a cut file I saw that was a wrap used to decorate a little paper cup.  I didn't have any paper cups so I decided to make my own.  Take a peek...

To make the hats, I started with this Coffee Cup SVG file from Lori Whitlock.  I deleted the cover and wrap pieces.  I then resized the body of the cup to be 3.25" high.  I pieced together the cup using some Gingham Linen Limeade Petite Prints. For the hat base I cut a circle about 3.125" in diameter.  For the black band I cut a strip Beetle Black Daisy Stripe Petite Prints approx. 0.5" x 6.5" and wrapped it around the bottom of the hat.  To finish I used the buckle piece from the Happy Go Lucky Leprechaun Hat SVG.

I love the Petite prints, not only because they match all of Doodlebug's Collections, but you can get a different look by just flipping the paper over!  The two hats below were made from the same exact papers, just the opposite sides!

The fun part was decorating the hats with cute little shamrocks from the Happy Go Lucky Shamrocks SVG.  For the little tag, I printed out Irish Kisses & Shamrock Wishes on some Limeade Floral Graph Petite Prints, sized to fit on the tag from the Tiny Tags Doodle Cuts, cut them out and finished them with some Doodle Twine.   (the inside area of the tag is approx .75" x 1.25")

Now for the reason behind my first question about naming a group of Leprechauns... I created a bunch of these little hats, and just needed to know!

Wishing you all a little Luck O' the Irish this St. Patrick's Day!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Lori Whitlock | Baby Lion Rectangle Pop Up Card

We are at that point in life where our neighborhood is starting to turn over... younger couples moving in and lots and lots of new babies!!  I love all the babies, so of course, I'm very excited for my new little neighbors! So it was perfect timing for Lori to out with the new Rectangle Pop Up Card Baby Bundle.  I particularly loved the cute little Rectangle Pop Up Card Baby Lion (SVG, Silhouette) and made it for a new little one!  Take a peek...

I used papers from Doodlebug Design to piece this together.  This cute little card does fold flat for mailing ( I would use a 6" Square envelope ).  For an easy assembly tutorial, see Lori's Rectangle Pop Up Card video here.  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Doodlebug Design | Lots of Love 3D Pay Phone Candy Dispenser

Hi Everyone!  Every time Doodlebug comes out with a new collection, I have a hard time picking my favorite icons.  They are all so cute, and their little smiles just make me happy!  With the Lots of Love Collection however, I immediately fell in love with the cute payphone!  I thought it would be fun to make a 3D version... with a little surprise!  Take a peek...

And "ta-da!" the bottom opens out to reveal some sweet treats!

The phone base is made up of 2 boxes that I created... a rectangle for the top an a dispenser box for the bottom.  I used the embellishments from the Lots of Love Wall Telephone SVG for the face, dial and coin slots.

For the phone, I resized this round box from Lori Whitlock and attached them with a strip.  For the cord, I used some fabric stiffener on some Chunky Twine and wrapped it around a straw.  When it dried, it stayed in a spiral.

I also added a small Velcro dot to keep the candy dispenser closed.  I always love it when a final project is just as I've envisioned!

Have you created any projects using the Lots of Love Collection or Lots of Love SVG files?  Be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook and Instagram.  We love to see your creations!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Doodlebug Design | Lots of Love Cute-Tea Treat Cups

I was so excited to get my Doodlebug Lots of Love Box!  This collection is so cute... Doodlebug Valentine Collections are always among my favorites!  When I saw the sweet, little, smiling cups in the Odds & Ends I knew I wanted to make a 3D version to fill with treats.  Take a peek...

I altered a round box file from Lori Whitlock to make the cup.  I added a fun little handle and a strip around the top.  The faces are from the Lots of Love Cocoa SVG file.  The little heart was cut using the a heart from the Love Notes Doodle Cuts.  Here are some close ups...

I added a shaped heart sprinkle from the With all My Heart Shaped sprinkles to the paper heart and some regular sprinkles for the cheeks.

I wanted to add a little tag to each gift.  I used the Love Notes Doodle Cuts to cut the envelope and hole punched paper.  The sentiment is from the Treat Yourself Doodle Stamps.  To finish it up I added the cute little tea bags from the Odds & Ends and a smiling heart from the Happy Hearts shaped sprinkles. I tied it to the treat bags with some doodle twine.

I can't wait to send them off to my "little" Valentine and her roommate!  Have you made any projects using the new Lots of Love Collection?  Be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook and Instagram, we always love to see your creations!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek.

Doodlebug Design | Ghost Town Box Card

I'm so excited to be kicking off a couple of weeks of Ghost Town inspiration!  Doodlebug Halloween Collections are always some of my favorites!  The little critters and icons are always so stinkin' adorable!  When I saw the little pumpkin patch stand image in the Odds & Ends pack, I knew it would make the cutest little box card.  Take a peek...

The little stand is made from the black side of the Moonlight Magic Cardstock.  The awning was pieced together using the 6x6 versions of the Hoppy Halloween and Treat Yourself papers.  I made the sign using one of the sentiment strips from the Chit Chat Pieces.

Of course I HAD to add one of the cute little Spider Celebration Shaped Sprinkles.  The spider web is from the Icon Sticker Sheet.

I then went to work adding the sweet little Odds & Ends! The pumpkins are just adorable and of COURSE I had to add the little black kitty!!

I had a hard time narrowing down my choice of Odds & Ends!  Be sure keep checking the blog for all new Ghost Town inspiration!  And if you've used Ghost Town in any of your projects, be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook and Instagram so we can see!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek.

Doodlebug Design | Pumpkin Spice Gift Set

I'm excited to be kicking off a couple of weeks of Pumpkin Spice inspiration!  I love Fall.  It is my favorite season.  The apples, pumpkins, warm sweaters and colorful leaves just call my name!  Needless to say, the Pumpkin Spice collection makes me ridiculously happy.  I decided to put together a Pumpkin Spice Gift Set.  It would be perfect for a good friend or a favorite teacher, take a peek...

As soon as I saw the adorable little to-go coffee cup image in the Odds & Ends Pack, I knew I wanted to make a 3D version!  I started with this file from Lori Whitlock, and put it together using the Forest Friends and Autumn Weave papers.  The cover is made from the new Bumblebee Buffalo Check-Woodgrain cardstock.   For the face, I borrowed some pieces from the Coffee to Go SVG from the Cream & Sugar Collection.

The cover comes off so you can add a sweet treat!  Maybe some pumpkin spice donut holes??  Just a suggestion.

To go with my sweet treat, I thought a good cup of Pumpkin Spice coffee would be perfect!  I made a this little tote which holds 2 K-Cups using this SVG file.  I used the Doodle-Cuts Large tag die for my tag, and decorated it with pieces from the Pumpkin Spice Odds & Ends and Chit Chat pieces.  I covered the top of the K-Cup with a 2" circle and added another chit chat piece and an acorn sprinkle from the new Happy Fall Shaped Sprinkles.

Have you made any projects using the new Pumpkin Spice Collection?  Make sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook and Instagram so we can see!  We always love to look at your creations!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Lori Whitlock | Cat & Dog Explosion Boxes

I got to play with some new files from Lori Whitlock this week.  She has a few new Explosion Boxes in her shop, and of course I had to make the Cat and Dog versions!  Take a peek...

The Explosion Box Cat  is my favorite of course... I pieced it together with some Chloe Collection from Bella Blvd.  The boxes have 4 pockets where you can add photos, notes or gift cards and the top of the house comes off , so you can add a little treat!

The whole box folds up with a lid!

Even though I'm a crazy cat lady, I had to do the dog version as well!  I pieced the Explosion Box Dog together with some Cooper Collection by Bella Blvd.

Here it is all folded up.  These would make great gifts for your pet loving friends!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Doodlebug Design | Bundle of Joy Circular Pop Up Abum

There's nothing quite as cute as a baby smile... well maybe their toes, or their little chubby arms... their little noses, dimpled hands and belly laughs... don't forget the belly laughs!  As you can tell I'm quite a fan!  I am definitely the one who "hogs" the baby at family events.  So needless to say, the new Bundle of Joy Collection is a new favorite!  I made a fun "Baby's First Year" album using all the cute papers and icons... take a peek...

I started with this Circular Pop Up Card File from Lori Whitlock.  I added six sections, one for every 2 months.  On each section instead of just gluing the background paper, I sewed around the sides and bottom to form a pocket.  In each pocket I added a tag where you can record the new baby's weight and length each month of the first year.  On top of the pocket, you can add a photo.  Here are the inside pages.  The Chit Chat month pieces were perfect!

It was so fun picking the different Odds & Ends to decorate the months!  The album is held open with a mini clip, but it also folds "flat".

This would make such a great gift for a new mom to be or even a Mimi to be!  Have you used the new Bundle of Joy in any of your projects?  Be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook and Instagram.  We love to see your creations.  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!
