Zipper Cuties

I fell in love with Maya Road's Zipper trims the first time I saw them. They were just so different and fun. This past weekend I was away at a crop with the ladies from Right at Home Scrapbooking and got to play some more with the zippers. I stated out with a simple flower...

The leaf is made of Leaf Trim from May Arts. I colored it with Distress Ink. I cheated a little and used a Gluber as the base... much easier than sewing! The flower got the creative juices flowing and gave me the idea for my snow lady...

Her hat is made of felt, with a little velvet ric rac added and a flower. The scarf is the same ric rac. I backed it with some white felt to make it more stable. She was very fun to make! I'll be back later in the week with some Right at Home Layouts.

Echo Park Redux

With all of the fun papers that Echo Park has out this holiday season, (I own all three collections!!) I thought it would be fun to try for their Fresh Faces Design Team again. This time, my projects are all Christmas themed... a little bit of everything, decor, gifts and of course, a layout! Take a peek...

Christmas Canvases

(Supplies Used: Echo Park Holly Jolly Christmas: Stockings Hung, Up on a Housetop, Glad Things, Fa la la la la, Journaling Cards, Decorative Brads
Claudine Hellmuth Studio: Multi-medium Matte, Studio Paints: Blank Canvas, Sky Blue, Dab of Yellow, Yellow Pastel, Dash of Red
Ranger Archival Ink Black, Canvases: Michaels.
iDiecuts: Holly Jolly Ornaments, Holly Jolly Presents, Holly Jolly Tree)

I have been bitten by the multi media canvas craze and when I saw the cute little Echo Park Holly Jolly Christmas die cuts at iDiecut.com, I knew I had to use them in a project! If you've never created on canvas before... it's really easy and tons of fun! First, I covered the canvas with scraps of torn paper using Studio multi-medium. This give it some texture. Next I painted over the paper. I used a piece of note card to scrape the paint across the canvas. This allows for some of the paper to show through. I dipped my finger in the paint and covered the sides, then added some colors from the other canvases. I then added the die cut shapes in layers using the Multi medium again.

Once these steps are done, the fun begins! Using stencils and stamps, I added paint and ink all around the canvas. The last step was to doodle a bit around the shapes to make them pop a bit more. As a final touch, I couldn't resist adding the Holly Jolly Decorative Brads to the tree!

Wine Charms

(Supplies Used: Echo Park Holly Jolly Christmas: Snowy Tree Tops
Ranger Glossy Accents
Jewelry Findings: Wine Glass Rings, Jump Rings, assorted beads and tiny jingle bells)

I'm always looking for that easy & fun hostess gift idea during the holidays, and it doesn't get much easier than these adorable wine charms! You won't believe how simple they are to make!

To start, I cut a few Christmas Trees from the Snow Tree Tops paper. I left a little white edge to make the colors stand out. Next, I poked a hole in the top. I then covered the entire tree with Glossy Accents. I added two coats to make the trees sturdier. It's like making your own epoxy stickers. Once dry, I added a jump ring through the hole. All that's left to do is to add the trees and some beads to the wine rings and voila!

Trimming the Tree

My final project is a layout that I created for a class I teach at my LSS Right at Home Scrapbooking.

(Supplies Used: Echo Park Holly Jolly Christmas: Snowy Treetops, Snowy Sidewalks, Glad Tidings, Yuletide Blue, Holiday Wrap, Stockings are Hung, Dash Away, Fa la la la la
Card stock: Bazzill
Twine: Maraschino from the Twinery
MFT Die namics: Pleated Rose, Snowflakes, Ornaments, Wonky Border, Bracket Tab, 4-Point Label, Loopy Bloom
Buttons: Stash
Stickles)

I had so much fun creating this layout... And the picture is one of my favorites: my husband and daughter trimming the tree.

To create the layout, I first adhered 3 1/4"x 5" pieces of the Dash Away, Fa la la la and Glad Tidings Papers to the Snowy Sidewalk background page. I then created a "scene" in each block. The snowman is made from two pleated flowers I created from card stock. I decorated him with buttons and a strip of paper for his scarf. The tree was created by adding layers of fringed paper to a triangle backing. I completed the look with a die cut star, some buttons and a stem. Finally, I die cut the ornaments and "hung" them from a baker's twine bow.

To complete the layout, I added a tab for the date, a title label and Stickles!

I had a lot of fun putting these projects together, and the process definitely got me in a holiday mood! Keeping my fingers crossed!

Layouts from the Weekend

I had so much fun this weekend cropping with the girls from Right at Home Scrapbooking. I was somewhat productive... got some DT stuff done and also a couple of "for fun" layouts. Take a peek...

I based this layout on the Jillibean Soup October Sketch...and the papers are from their Homemade 6-Bean Soup Line. The picture is of my daughter about 12 years ago. She was home sick and I was trying to participate in a conference call... she had so much fun tearing into the folded laundry...

I LOVE the Jillibean Corrugated Alphas, and the Jute Flowers were just perfect!

The other "for fun" layout I did was based on the 10/15 Saturday Sketch from Bella Blvd. I used Making the Team...SO happy to finally find a sports line that works for gymnastics! These pictures are from States last May... the Quiggs Prep Novice Team did Awesome!

The word stickers were perfect! I also loved the little banner stickers and created a hanging banner with them and some twine from the Twinery.

I'll be back later in the week with a fun Halloween Mini and my final (sniff...) LO as part of the Marketing Team for LCOM.

CS Guest Designer

I was very excited to be a guest designer on Creative Scrappers this week! I love their blog and look for inspiration there all the time! The sketch Kristine gave me to work with can be seen here, and here's my take on it.

I used Doodlebug's new Monster Mania line... I just can't get enough of those little creatures!

I was inspired by my recent multi media class to paint on my layout. I used bubble wrap to apply the color.

Even the spider is cute! It was lots of fun to play with this line and the CS sketch! I'll be back later this week with some goodies from Right at Home!

Yesterday

This week my husband and I celebrated our 19th Anniversary. I have a hard time believing we've been married that long. I think I may have to give up telling everyone I'm 29... it's beyond the respectable limits at this point! Since I had a post due for LCOM on our anniversary I thought it would be perfect to scrap our wedding photo. I still haven't done a book for our wedding... talk about a bit behind... someday I'll get to it! Here's the layout I created using Bo Bunny's Garden Girl Line.

I love the chipboard pieces that come with this line, I used the leafy flourish as a backdrop for the flowers I die cut using MFTs new Prima Donna Petals Die namic.

The butterfly was "fussy cut" from the Garden Girl Paper.

That's all for now... it was fun to look back many years (and a couple of dress sizes!) Check out the Bo Bunny Garden Girl Collection Kit at LCOM! You'll love the colors and patterns!
