Doodlebug Design | Reindeer Valentine

Have you ever wondered what Santa's reindeer do off season?  Being in quarantine I've had a lot of time to think about this question. (Maybe a little too much time? lol)  My answer came in the form of a fun little 3D card.  Take a peek...

My guess is that he's getting ready for Valentine's day by manning the North Pole's kissing booth!  I always love finding ways to use seasonal collections like the Night Before Christmas off season projects.  It's a great way to challenge yourself.  To make the card I altered this file from Lori Whitlock.  I added the kissing booth, and lots of goodies from the Night before Christmas Odds & Ends, including a little heart banner.

I love how you can use this type of card for seasonal décor as well.  The card folds flat to fit in an envelope to send to my favorite valentine!

If you have found fun new ways to use your seasonal Doodlebug Collections, be sure to tag us on Facebook and Instagram!  We love to see your creations.  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Doodlebug Design | Night Before Christmas Ornaments

Growing up, my grandmother used to give each of her grandchildren a new ornament each Christmas.  Many of those still decorate my tree.  I started the tradition with my own daughter and my niece and nephews, each year I would make them a new ornament.  Now I'm onto the next generation with my great niece.  Every year I try to come up with a new ornament idea.  Last year I took an on-line ornament class from Lori Whitlock.  The ornaments had little scenes under a plastic dome.  I thought it would be fun to make some featuring the icons from the Night Before Christmas Collection.  They turned out so cute!  Take a peek...

I created little scenes using the stickers from the icon sticker sheet, some sprinkles and papers from the 6x6 pad.    I filled a couple with some glitter snow to make mini "snow globes"  and added some doodle twine and tags from the chit chat pieces.  I love how they came out! Here are some close-ups...

These cute little globes are really easy to make and they make such an impact!  I put together a little tutorial below.
I started by gathering my supplies.  I purchased the plastic domes and glitter snow on Amazon.  For this ornament, I cut a 3" circle from the Snow Magical paper (6x6 pad) and a slightly larger scalloped circle (approx 3 3/8") from the red side of the jolly st. nick paper, and then cut another circle from white cardstock which I trimmed across to be my "roof."  Also included for this ornament are the Santa in chimney and reindeer stickers from the icons sticker sheet.

Glue the snowflake circle centered on the scalloped circle.  Make sure this is centered.
Add some foam tape to the back of the half circle piece and add to bottom of the snowflake circle, making sure it lines up.

Start building your scene... I added some glue and foam tape to Santa, the foam tape is on the top half to help it keep aligned with the already popped up roof piece.  A hint to working with stickers... it's easier to work with them if you make them "unsticky" first.  I use some cornstarch on the backs, but you can also use baby powder.
Add some foam tape to the back of the reindeer and place him next to Santa.

Make sure none of the stickers are outside of the inner circle.

Add about 1 tablespoon of glitter snow to the inside of one of the domes.
Add a thin strip of glue around the edge of the inner circle.  I used Zip Dry Glue.  I like it because it holds well and dries clear.  If you get any on the inner circle wipe it away so the snow won't stick.

Add the circles to the dome (while upside down).  Make sure you align the top of your design with the hanger on the dome.

I made a couple of other scenes as well... one with a kitty and tree and another with Santa in the snow. Here is what they looked like before I added the dome and snow.

I've already given one away and it made the recipient very happy!!   You could also use the Night Before Christmas Doodle Stamps to make these fun ornaments.   If you make any please be sure to tag Doodlebug on Facebook and Instagram.  We always love to see your creations!

Doodlebug Design | Night Before Christmas Advent Calendar

Every year I try to come up with a new and fun Advent Calendar for the holiday.  We always enjoy opening a new treat each day as we count down to Christmas.  This year while searching Pinterest, I found a wooden calendar with a tree and small gifts to hold some goodies.  I decided it would be fun to create one made from Doodlebug's Night Before Christmas Collection.  I set to work and created my own paper version... take a peek...

I started with some Gingham Linen Petite prints and some chipboard to make my tree.  I glued the tree to a circular base, made from some chipboard and the red side of the Jolly St. Nick Cardstock.  I decorated the tree with strands of sprinkles and the Twinkle Light Shaped Sprinkles...they were perfect!

I made 24 little boxes.  I added mini brads to help pull them open and numbered them using the Sunshine Alphabet Stickers.  All that was left was to embellish the boxes some more.  I used some toys and gifts from the Odds & Ends Pack.  Here are some close-ups of all of the boxes...

My favorite is the little kitty on top of the boxes, because let's face it, that's exactly what they do when they are not climbing the tree!  Each box is about 1.7" cubed so they are the perfect size for a chocolate or 2!

I created a cut file for this project and it is currently available in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop here.  It will also be coming to the Silhouette Store.  There is a quick tutorial in Lori's shop on the product page.  Be sure to come back to the blog for the next couple of weeks for more Night Before Christmas inspiration!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek.

Doodlebug Design | Pumpkin Spice Slim Line Cards

I'm loving the latest trend in cards... the slim-line card.  If you're not familiar with them, the finished card size is 3-5/8" x 8- 5/8", it's a longer, skinny card.  I love them because you can fit so many goodies on one card!  I made a couple using the new Pumpkin Spice and Forest Friends Doodle Stamps.  Take a peek...

For my first card I used the Forest Friends Doodle Stamps.  These critters are just too cute for words!  I fussy cut the stamped images and added the critters to little frame dies which I popped up with some foam tape for dimension.  Because the card is longer, I was able to fit four critters on the card.  I used a combination of Pumpkin Spice and the Woodgrain side of the Buffalo Check- Woodgrain paper for my papers.  The speech bubble sentiment is from the Pumpkin Spice Chit Chat pieces.

For my second card I used the Pumpkin Spice Doodle Stamps.  I love that there are different face options in the set... you have 3 options of little smiley faces to add to the base stamps. Again, I fussy cut the stamped images.  I used some paper piecing for the coffee cozies on the takeaway cups, and of course I had to add some little heart sprinkles!  The sentiment was stamped using a stamp from the set on a piece I die-cut using the speech bubble Doodle-cuts die from the You're Sweet Doodle Stamp set.

I had so much playing with these new stamp sets!  If you've made any cards with Doodlebug's Doodle Stamps, be sure to tag us on Facebook and Instagram!  We always love to see your creations!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek.

Lori Whitlock | Christmas Countdown Step Card

Christmas will be here before we know it.  To help count the days, I created this fun little Christmas Countdown Step Card (SVG, Silhouette ) for Lori, and it was released this week!  It's such a fun card... you can make one for yourself, or mail one off (I recommend a 5x7 padded envelope) to someone special!  I pieced this one together using A Lumberjack Christmas from Echo Park Paper.

Doodlebug Design | Gobble Gobble Card and Treat Holders

As you have all seen from my doodle pop organizer post, I definitely have a doodle pop hoarding issue.  I have some doodle pops that are almost 10 years old!  One of my favorite doodle pops is from 2015, the little gobble gobble turkey!  He's just too cute!  Do you remember him?

I thought it would be fun to make a card featuring Mr. gobble gobble, I designed this card and updated him a bit with some Pumpkin Spice colors.  I didn't want him to be lonely so I made some little treat box place holders for my Thanksgiving table.  My own flock of turkeys!  Take a peek....

I thought the card would be perfect to send to relatives we are unable to see this holiday season... just a little something to let them know we are thinking of them!

And the little turkey treat holders will look great on my Thanksgiving table and they're the perfect size for a chocolate treat!!

Doodlebug Design | Ghost Town Trick or Treat Side Step Card

Halloween is tomorrow!  Do you have your costume ready?  How about the candy?  I may have eaten some of mine and had to make another trip to the store for more!!  I also made one more card using the adorable Ghost Town collection!  Take a peek...

I love the Odds & Ends pieces.  They make it so easy to create little scenes for cards and layouts!  For this card, I started with a step card base.   If you've never done a step card it's easy!  I did a tutorial for a Doodlebug Christmas version here if you need.  Once I had the base cut, I started putting together my little scene...  I used a number of the Odds & Ends pieces and stickers from the Icons sheet to create it.  The trick or treat word bubble is from the This & That Sheet.  It all went together very quickly and it folds flat for mailing!

If you use the Ghost Town Collection for any of your cards, layouts or projects, be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook or Instagram so we can see what you created!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Doodlebug Design | Ghost Town Box Card

I'm so excited to be kicking off a couple of weeks of Ghost Town inspiration!  Doodlebug Halloween Collections are always some of my favorites!  The little critters and icons are always so stinkin' adorable!  When I saw the little pumpkin patch stand image in the Odds & Ends pack, I knew it would make the cutest little box card.  Take a peek...

The little stand is made from the black side of the Moonlight Magic Cardstock.  The awning was pieced together using the 6x6 versions of the Hoppy Halloween and Treat Yourself papers.  I made the sign using one of the sentiment strips from the Chit Chat Pieces.

Of course I HAD to add one of the cute little Spider Celebration Shaped Sprinkles.  The spider web is from the Icon Sticker Sheet.

I then went to work adding the sweet little Odds & Ends! The pumpkins are just adorable and of COURSE I had to add the little black kitty!!

I had a hard time narrowing down my choice of Odds & Ends!  Be sure keep checking the blog for all new Ghost Town inspiration!  And if you've used Ghost Town in any of your projects, be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook and Instagram so we can see!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek.

Doodlebug Design | Pumpkin Spice Gift Set

I'm excited to be kicking off a couple of weeks of Pumpkin Spice inspiration!  I love Fall.  It is my favorite season.  The apples, pumpkins, warm sweaters and colorful leaves just call my name!  Needless to say, the Pumpkin Spice collection makes me ridiculously happy.  I decided to put together a Pumpkin Spice Gift Set.  It would be perfect for a good friend or a favorite teacher, take a peek...

As soon as I saw the adorable little to-go coffee cup image in the Odds & Ends Pack, I knew I wanted to make a 3D version!  I started with this file from Lori Whitlock, and put it together using the Forest Friends and Autumn Weave papers.  The cover is made from the new Bumblebee Buffalo Check-Woodgrain cardstock.   For the face, I borrowed some pieces from the Coffee to Go SVG from the Cream & Sugar Collection.

The cover comes off so you can add a sweet treat!  Maybe some pumpkin spice donut holes??  Just a suggestion.

To go with my sweet treat, I thought a good cup of Pumpkin Spice coffee would be perfect!  I made a this little tote which holds 2 K-Cups using this SVG file.  I used the Doodle-Cuts Large tag die for my tag, and decorated it with pieces from the Pumpkin Spice Odds & Ends and Chit Chat pieces.  I covered the top of the K-Cup with a 2" circle and added another chit chat piece and an acorn sprinkle from the new Happy Fall Shaped Sprinkles.

Have you made any projects using the new Pumpkin Spice Collection?  Make sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook and Instagram so we can see!  We always love to look at your creations!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!
