Doodlebug Design | Great Outdoors Thanksgiving Place Cards

Hi Everyone!  I'm so excited that we can actually do "in person" Thanksgiving this year!  It's one of my favorite holidays... family, friends... the carbs... it's all so fun!  In addition to the turkey and all the fixings... I love to add a little something to each place setting.  This year I made these fun little Truffle Box Place Cards.  I got the idea from a gift box in a card I saw on Pinterest.  I thought it would be fun to downsize it a bit to make it a place card using the Great Outdoors Collection.  Take a peek...

The place cards are made up of an easel base with a cut out that perfectly fits a little box with a cover.  The boxes are sized for a small treat.  I love all of the fall colors of the papers in the collection,  it's hard to pick a favorite... maybe the Bits of Nature, but then I adore the plaid side of the Wildflowers cardstock too!

To create my name pieces, I printed everyone's name on some white cardstock.  I then cut out the ovals using the Mini-tags Doodle Cuts.

Decorating the place cards was my favorite part.  I stamped lots of leaves and acorns from the It's Fall Y'All Doodle Stamp Set.  I colored them with my Copics and fussy-cut them.  If you're not into fussy cutting, there are matching Doodle Cut dies for the set, but I find the cutting very relaxing!

I popped up the leaves and acorns on the covers with a little foam tape and then added one last leaf to the front of the place card.  I finished them off with some mini jewels on the leaf.  I can't wait to see them on my table!

Would you like to create your own truffle box place cards?  I created a cut file for them and it is currently available in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop, and it will be coming soon to the Silhouette Store.  I've linked below to the SVG.  If you make some, be sure to tag @doodlebugdesign on Facebook and Instagram.  We always love to see what you create!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Doodlebug Design | Gobble Gobble Card and Treat Holders

As you have all seen from my doodle pop organizer post, I definitely have a doodle pop hoarding issue.  I have some doodle pops that are almost 10 years old!  One of my favorite doodle pops is from 2015, the little gobble gobble turkey!  He's just too cute!  Do you remember him?

I thought it would be fun to make a card featuring Mr. gobble gobble, I designed this card and updated him a bit with some Pumpkin Spice colors.  I didn't want him to be lonely so I made some little treat box place holders for my Thanksgiving table.  My own flock of turkeys!  Take a peek....

I thought the card would be perfect to send to relatives we are unable to see this holiday season... just a little something to let them know we are thinking of them!

And the little turkey treat holders will look great on my Thanksgiving table and they're the perfect size for a chocolate treat!!

Have you played around with the Pumpkin Spice Collection?  Be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook and Instagram!  We love to see your creations.  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Doodlebug Design | Christmas Town Place Cards

Happy Christmas Eve everyone!  Hopefully all of your shopping is done and you're just putting the final touches on Christmas!  I decided last minute that I wanted to add place cards to my Christmas table, so of course I pulled out some Christmas Town and got to work!  These little place card treat boxes were put together using the Christmas Town 6x6 Pad and the Icons Sticker Sheet!

Each box holds a sweet treat inside!

The boxes were pretty simple to make.  I used Tiny Gift Box die from Lawn Fawn and my Sizzix to make the boxes using papers from the 6x6 Pad.  Then I added the cute little Icon Stickers to the top...

For each place card, I created a box and chose a sticker from the Icons sheet.  I punched 2 circles using a 1/2" circle punch.  I also created name banners using the print and cut feature of my Silhouette, but you could easily hand write the names on a little hand cut banner.
To create the "stand" for each sticker, I folded each of the circles in half, then glued them together as shown in the second picture.
I used my powder tool on the back of each sticker to make it "un-sticky"  You could also use regular baby powder or corn starch as well. This is so it doesn't stick to everything once it's on the box.
Finally, I added some adhesive to the bottom of my sticker and stuck it to the stand I created.  This can then be glued to the top of your box.
Here are some close-ups of the individual place card boxes...

I can't wait to put them on my table!  That's it for me today...I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Doodlebug Design: Thanksgiving Place Cards

Hi Everyone!  Today I have some fun little Thanksgiving Place Cards I made using some Doodlebug Design Flea Market Papers and Cut files which are available in the Silhouette Store and the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop!  Take a peek...

I started with a simple box.  I then sized the Acorn, Pumpkin, Sunflower and Leaves files to fit over the box.  I cut a small tag, and using my Silhouette Sketch Pens to write the names of my guests and tied the tag to the stems.  Here are some close-ups.

To complete the place cards, I added some Sprinkles and Stickers from the Flea Market Collection.  I plan on filling them with some sweet treats!   That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Lori Whitlock: Thanksgiving Place Cards using Silhouette Cut by Color Feature Tutorial

Hi Everyone!  I'm up on the Lori Whitlock Blog today with a tutorial on how to use the Cut by Color Feature in the Silhouette Studio Software! If you’re not familiar, this feature allows you to select different cutting conditions for each line color on your design mat.  This is super handy when working with the Silhouette Sketch Pens and shapes.  I used this feature to create the leaves on these fun Thanksgiving Place cards.

I started with Lori's Thanksgiving Place Cards.  (here in the Silhouette Store) and some papers from Echo Park's The Story of Fall collection.  The names were written using my Silhouette Sketch Pens.  Here's a close up of one of the cards.

For my full tutorial, see my post on the Lori Whitlock Blog here.  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Lori Whitlock: Easter Place Cards

Hi Everyone!  Today I have some fun place cards that I created for the Lori Whitlock Creative Team.  They're perfect for your Easter table!

I started with Lori's Bracket Tent Card.  I used my sketch pens and Lori's Cheerful Sketch Font to write every one's names.  It's the first time I had used my sketch pens and I have to say, it was so much easier than I thought!  From there I picked my favorites from the new Easter Sets ( Set 1, Set 2, Set 3) to decorate each card.  I used Doodlebug Designs Petite Prints and some Doodlebug Sprinkles for my papers and embellies.  The colors were perfect!  Here are some close-ups!

That's it for me today!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Doodlebug Design: Easter Parade Goodies

Hi Everyone!  Today I have some adorable treat boxes I created for Doodlebug Design using the new Easter Parade Collection.  I made these for a couple of friends, but they could also be used as place cards for your Easter table!  Take a peek...

The box itself is a Lori Whitlock File I got from the Silhouette store here.  I cut the body of the box from some Doodlebug Cardstock, then created some insets using some of the fun Easter parade papers.  My favorite parts are the Bunny and Friends critters and eggs!!!  They're just so stinkin' cute!  I used some of the word stickers from the This and That Sticker sheet to label the eggs, but you could use some Teensy Type stickers to put names on them to use the boxes as festive place cards!  Here are some close-ups...

Here is the side view, the boxes are filled with some Easter grass and a couple of chocolates!

The tops are just "tied" together with a piece of scrap ribbon.

These went together really quickly and would be an easy project to mass produce for family & friends!  Well, that's all for me today.  Make sure to stop by the Doodlebug Blog and check out all of the Easter Parade inspiration from the design team!  Thanks for stopping by!
