Doodlebug Design | A Purr-fect Layout

My name is Kathy and I'm a crazy cat lady.   To most people this isn't really "news."  I am the mom to two very spoiled kitties... and since my daughter has been away at school and I work from home, I spend a lot of time with them. This means I have lots of pictures of them that really need to be scrapped.  I've been hording the Kitten Smitten collection for a while, so I came up with this layout of my quirky boy Jax.  Take a peek...

I created the Silhouette file for this layout, and backed the letters with some papers from Kitten Smitten, and some Gingham Linen Petite Prints and of course Jax.

I dug into the Kitten Smitten Odds and Ends and found the cute little black kitty, and the notepad paper for my journaling.  The mouse and the paw prints are from the icon sticker sheet, and the fishy clip is from the cute clips.

I embellished more with some word stickers from the This and That sheet and sprinkled some sprinkles around the letters.

I popped it all up to give it a little dimension.  If you'd like to use this file for your kitty pics, you can download the file from my blog here.  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Lori Whitlock: June Creative Team Blog Hop

Hi Everyone!   It's time for the June Creative Team Blog Hop over at Lori Whitlock!  You should have arrived here from Lori's Blog.  Here's the order for today's hop!

Father's Day is right around the corner, so I decided to make a fun card for my husband... from the cat!  After all, he does feed them every morning!   I started with Lori's Bobble Head Cat Card (SVG, Silhouette).  I printed some wording on the front of the card using Lori's Perfect Type Font ( SVG, Silhouette) and finished it off with a little bow tie!

The papers and glitter sprinkles are from Doodlebug Design.

Also, how about a free file!!  This file is free for today only!  No code or minimum required.

Finally, how would you like to win a $20 Coupon to Lori's SVG Shop!

That's it for me today, your next stop on the hop is Anita!  Have a great day!

Doodlebug Cut Files: Happy Birthday Mr. Harley Card

It's always fun when you find friends that are as crazy as you are when it comes to their pets.  My friend Jenn has a sassy kitty named Mr. Harley, who has his own Instagram.  To celebrate Mr. Harley's 10th Birthday, Jenn pledged to give $1 to the MSPCA of Cape Cod for each birthday card Mr. Harley received.  So, you know I had to play along, being the mom of 2 shelter kitties myself.  I made this fun card using a few cut files from Doodlebug Design:  (for a tutorial on how to make a shaped card in Silhouette, see my post here)

I started with the Fun in the Sun Caravan File from the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop which I put together using some Gingham Linen Petite Prints and some Glitter Sprinkles for the lights.  I added a little print and cut license plate to wish Mr. H a happy birthday.  The two kitties (Mr. Harley driving the caravan, and his adopted little brother Gus in the passenger seat...) were cut using the Kittens and Green Kitty SVG files form the Kitten Smitten Collection.  Of course they had on their signature bow ties!     Entirely too cute!  I gave the card to Jenn this past weekend, and was so happy that she loved it!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Lori Whitlock: Pop Up Kitty Card

Hi Everyone! Today I'm showcasing one of Lori Whitlock's new Pop Up Card Cat (SVG, Silhouette) !  Being a crazy cat lady, this card was right up my alley!! This card is super easy to assemble (see the video tutorial here)  I decided to customize it for my friend Jenn who has a sassy black and white kitty named Mr. Harley.

To add the black patches, I cut the face, tail and body of the cat from both black and white cardstock.  I then cut the black cardstock to reflect Mr. Harley's coloring and gave him a bow-tie as well.  To finish, I cut some decorative panels for the inside of the card from some Doodlebug Design's So Punny papers.( they are sized 3.875" x 5.125").  There's also a dog version of this card (SVG, Silhouette) ... you could customize for your "dog mom" friends! Here is a picture of the real Mr. Harley... you can follow his antics on Instagram here!

I can't wait to send it to my friend!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Doodlebug Design Cut Files: Meowy Christmas!

I was so excited to see the Doodlebug Design Milk & Cookies Cut files in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop!  I had to start playing immediately!  I fell in love with the Milk & Cookies Kitty file, and decided it would make a fun card.  Take a peek...

Using my Silhouette I created a card base, and added a cute little ornament for the kitty to play with... we all know that's what happens with cats and Christmas Trees!!  The papers are mostly Gingham Linen Petite Prints and cardstock from Doodlebug Design.  I also added a little Doodlebug Chunky Glitter to the hat.   He's just so cute!  All of the Milk & Cookies Files are available in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop, and will be coming soon to the Doodlebug Design Gallery in the Silhouette Store!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

My Boy

Hi Everyone, I just got back from a fun weekend of scrapping with friends at the 2016 Crop on the Cape!  This is just the most fun event, I think this might have been my 10th year going!  This year I also got to meet up with some of my Paper Issues Teammates... there may have been shenanigans...

Anyway, we also participated in Paper Issue's Spring Crop.  One of the challenges was called Must Love Dogs (or in my case, cats...).  This is the layout I put together for the challenge...

This is my boy Jax.  He loves to play peek-a-boo and attack the hands on the keyboard.  He's too cute!  I used the new Totally Rad collection from Cocoa Vanilla.  It's available in the Paper Issues Shop here.  It's mostly a "boy" themed line but I love the colors and patterns, and Jax IS a boy.... Here are some close-ups...

Totally Rad came with some awesome embellishments.  I had a fun time sprinkling them about!  Stop by the Paper Issues Store to pick up some Totally Rad for yourself, you'll be glad you did!  Use code KATHYS for a 20% discount on your whole order!
That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Doodlebug Design: Sweet Things Collection

Hi Everyone, today I have a fun layout featuring the adorable new Sweet Things Collection from Doodlebug Design!  I love Valentine collections, and this is one of my all time favorites!  Take a peek...

Everyone knows I am a crazy cat lady.  This is our kitten Jax.  He's really cute, which is good, because he's a bit of a troublemaker.  He just has the sweetest face... or maybe it's one only a cat mom could love... I'll let you decide!
I loved the typewritten pattern of the Love letters paper!  It makes a great background!  And all the fun hearts in the Paper Hearts Paper... such great colors!  I wanted it to be a big focus of my layout.  I then set out to embellishing... Sweet Things has the best embellishments!  My favorites were the Sweet Hearts Shape Sprinkles and the word stickers from the This and That Sticker Sheet!  Here are some more close-ups...

I completed the layout with some Ladybug Chippers and some Teensy Type letters for my title.  That's it for me today!  I hope you've enjoyed all of the Sweet Things inspiration these past couple of weeks!  Have a great day!

Paper Issues Fall Crop: Negative Space Challenge

Hi Everyone!  I'm back today with another layout I created for the Paper Issues Fall Crop. This challenge was the negative space challenge.  The goal was to have at least 2/3 of your page space open.  Here's my entry...

I used Crate Paper's Wonder collection for this one.  I love the colors and embellishments!  Anything with kitties is right up my alley!  Here are some more close-ups.

There is still time to join in the fun over in the Paper Issues Friends and Fans Facebook Group.  Take a peek at the Fall Crop Challenge album and post your projects there by November 14th and you could win a $100 Gift Card to the Paper Issues Store.  See the  Rules and Regulations for all the details.  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by!

Paper Issues Fall Crop: Pet Challenge Layout

Hi Everyone!  Did you get a chance to participate in the Paper Issues Fall Crop?  It was lots of fun and there were a ton of challenges.  My challenge was to scrap about your pets without using any pet themed papers or embellishments.  Here was my layout...

These are my two fuzz butts, Jax (the little guy) and Rosie.  Jax wants to be friends with Rosie in the worst way.  Rosie is completely uninterested.  Jax is becoming impatient.  I used some Bella Blvd goodies from the Family Frenzy collection as well as some Color Chaos to document their ongoing "struggle."  Here are some close-ups...

Paper Issues: How 'Bout Them Apples

Hi Everyone!  There's a new Issue at Paper Issues... How 'bout them Apples! Sponsored by the Paper Issues Shop!   What are we looking for??  Anything fall, apples (red/green), leaves, fall colors, use September/October printables available in the Paper Issues Shop!  It's easy!  Take a peek at what I created...

This is the newest member of our family, Jax.  He's about 5 months old now and he's just too stinkin' cute.  He loves to sit in our windows and watch the leaves!!  I am completely in love with the Cedar Lane collection from Pink Paislee... the colors are awesome and the embellishments are perfect for fall!

For my leaves I cut some from one of the Cedar Lane Papers, the others were cut using Lawn Fawn's Small Stitched Leaves dies.

Link up your "How 'bout them apples," projects and you could win a $20 gift card to the Paper Issues Shop! Your projects may also be featured on the Paper Issues Blog, our Facebook Page, or on our Instagram feed! Lori Whitlock: A Purrfect Umbrella

Hi Everyone!  I have a fun project I created for the Lori Whitlock Creative Team today!  It was my week to post a tutorial, so I created this project, showing how to use the knife tool in the Silhouette Software to customize a shape for your project...

I saw a similar umbrella in Pinterest recently, but it was only sold in the UK and it was out of stock.  Since I am a crazy cat lady, I refused to let that stop me!  So I pulled out my Silhouette Black Adhesive Vinyl, found this Black Cat Shape in Lori's Silhouette Shop and went to work!

For the full Tutorial, see my post on the Lori Whitlock Blog here.  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Lori Whitlock: A Purr-fect Mini Album

Hi Everyone!  Wow, no posts for a couple of weeks, now three in a row!!  Today I'm up on the Lori Whitlock Blog with a new way to use one of her fun files!  As soon as I saw Lori's Gift Tag Set, I thought it would make the perfect mini album!  The tags are the perfect size for smaller pictures... especially the fun new ones I printed using my Instax Printer!!  Take a peek...

The Gift Tag Set comes with a cute little box and a cut file for the tags.  I decorated the box with pieces from Lori's Cat Belly Box, and then cut 5 of the tags using Bella Blvd.'s Riley Collection to be the pages of my album.  I added some Instax Pictures of my two trouble makers and some fun stickers and elements from the Riley collection for each page.  Here are some close-ups of the pages.

Here's a look at everything together.  To hold the pages together, I used a book ring, decorated with some fun coordinating ribbons.

It all went together so quickly!  I think this would be perfect for a little gift album!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by!
